Ramona Fereyra - Sequoia Samanvaya | Sara Jolena Wolcott | The ReMembering and ReEnchanting Podcast

Ramona is a first-generation Dominican American born in New York City. She spent her childhood in the Dominican Republic.

Ramona managed the first urban Gap Kids and Baby while completing her BA at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She completed her Masters's and two graduate certificates at Hawaii Pacific University. She tweaked her leadership style at the Kennedy School @Harvard and Center for Creative Leadership. While based in Hawaii, she led outreach efforts for the FBI and Department of Defense on community engagement and environmental resilience throughout the Pacific region.

She imagined a clothing line that babies like her nephew could wear proudly. Designs that would be reflective of their heritage. The designs would make those who saw them proud. By outfitting children, while reminding parents of the uniqueness of their heritage Ramona knew she create both loyal customers and, more importantly, a stronger sense of community. Ojala Threads is the result: a social enterprise that is already making a difference.

She is currently supporting the revitalization of a sacred site in the Dominican Republic and has been a powerful advocate for social change, especially around transportation and affordable housing, in the South Bronx, NYC, where she now lives with her dog, Brownie.
